A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO The State foundation on culture and the arts.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 9, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§9- Hawaiian sculpture park. (a) The foundation, in conjunction with the department of land and natural resources, the office of Hawaiian affairs, Hawaiian civic clubs, the university of Hawaii, and community art groups shall establish one or more Hawaiian sculpture parks for the recognition and display of Hawaiian sculpture art.
(b) Any land for displaying art may be acquired by the foundation, which shall be used by the foundation for the purposes of this section.
(c) "Hawaiian sculpture art" shall mean any sculpture made by a native Hawaiian artist."
SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2007-2008, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2008-2009, for the establishment of one or more Hawaiian sculpture parks.
The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of accounting and general services for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2007.
