A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of the SEVENTH REPRESENTATIVE district.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2007-2008:
1. To be expended by the department of education:
A. Waimea middle school, Hawaii
Eight new classroom buildings.
Construction $11,700,000
Total funding $11,700,000
B. Waimea middle school, Hawaii
Lockers and showers for physical education.
Plans, design, and construction $ 8,813,000
Total funding $ 8,813,000
2. To be expended by the department of land and natural resources:
A. Kawaihae harbor, north basin, Hawaii
Breakwater renovation. $ 1,277,000
Catwalk and loading dock repair 511,000
Total funding $ 1,788,000
B. Kawaihae harbor, south basin, Hawaii
Access roads $ 414,000
Security fencing and gates 158,000
Washdown area and drainage improvements 219,000
Utility and lighting improvements 2,251,000
Total funding $ 3,042,000
C. Puako ramp, Hawaii
Boat launch ramp replacement and renovations $ 442,000
Parking and roadway improvements 552,000
Total funding $ 994,000
D. Waimea water wells, Hawaii
Source development $ 6,776,000

3. To be expended by the department of transportation:
A. Kawaihae harbor, Hawaii
Terminal improvements $ 1,500,000

C. Mamalahoa highway, Hawaii

E. Queen Ka‘ahumanu highway, Hawaii

4. To be expended by the Hawaii health systems corporation:
Kona community hospital, Hawaii
Emergency room expansion and renovations $ 8,000,000
Total funding $ 8,000,000
5. To be expended by the department of business, economic development, and tourism:
Natural energy laboratory, Hawaii
Improvements to existing seawater system.
Pumps and distribution pipelines $ 5,250,000
Total funding $ 5,250,000
SECTION 2. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the designated expending agency for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2007.
