A BILL FOR AN ACT

relating to the office of hawaiian affairs.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

     SECTION 1.  Chapter 10, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§10-    Liability for occurrences on land owned by the office. Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, the office shall be legally immune from tort liability on land owned by the office to the same extent as the State and state agencies are immune with regard to land that they own; provided that nothing in this section shall deprive the office of immunity that may be greater than the immunity accorded to the State and state agencies."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
