A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to environmental impact statements.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. In collaboration with the department of business, economic development, and tourism; the Hawaii tourism authority; and the cruiseline industry, the department of transportation is directed to prepare and submit for review, pursuant to chapter 343, an environmental impact statement on the impacts of the cruiseline industry on the State and counties. The accepting authority for the environmental impact statement shall be the governor.
SECTION 2. The department of transportation shall submit the draft environmental impact statement on the impacts of the cruiseline industry to the legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the regular session of 2008.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
