RELATING TO MILITARY RESERVE COMPONENTS.

Creates a special fund to reimburse the life insurance premiums of national guard and reserve members deployed to a war zone.

RELATING TO MILITARY RESERVE COMPONENTS.

Provides an exemption of vehicle taxes and registration fees for members of the National Guard and Reserves.

RELATING TO THE OFFICE OF VETERANS' SERVICES.

Establishes a permanent clerk typist II position in the office of veterans' services on Oahu.  Appropriates $33,230 in FY 2007-2008 and FY 2008-2009.

RELATING TO FAMILY LEAVE.

Allows an employee to use family leave during any calendar year to provide family care and support during the military deployment of the employee's child, spouse or reciprocal beneficiary, or parent.  Requires an employee to provide proof of military deployment.  Defines military deployment.

RELATING TO TAXATION.

Establishes a 5% income tax credit for Hawaii employers that hire state residents who are members of the national guard.  Establishes that the maximum tax credit per national guard/employee shall be $1,000.

RELATING TO A HAWAII MILITARY FAMILY RELIEF SPECIAL FUND.

Establishes the Hawaii military family relief special fund and an income tax check off to fund it.  Provides economic relief to families of Hawaii national guard and reserve members.

RELATING TO VETERAN BURIAL GRANTS.

Requires office of veterans' services to pay directly to a mortuary for services and to transport the remains of a deceased veteran who joined the New Filipino Scouts between 10/6/1945, and 6/30/1947, and died after 6/30/1994, to the Philippines upon submission of an unpaid invoice.  Appropriates $      .

RELATING TO VETERANS LICENSE PLATES.

Authorizes counties to waive the fees for special number license plates to veterans.  Directs the office of veterans services to reimburse the counties for the waived fees.  Appropriates funds.

RELATING TO KAUAI VETERANS CEMETERY.

Appropriates $102,000 for fiscal year 2007-2008 and $50,800 per year thereafter for the repair and maintenance of the Kauai veterans cemetery.

Appropriates funds to the department of defense for veterans' newsletters to inform returning veterans of benefit changes and the availability of supportive services and programs.

RELATING TO VETERANS' SERVICES.

Authorizes the Governor, to set the salary of the Director of the Office of Veterans' Services at an amount not exceeding 74% of the salary of the Director of Human Resources Development..

RELATING TO THE HAWAII NATIONAL GUARD.

Allows national guard personnel on state active duty to deposit their paycheck by electronic transfer to their personal banking accounts.
