SB 14	RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII. Establishes the candidate advisory council to screen and propose candidates for appointment to the board of regents of the University of Hawaii.  Increases the board of regents membership to fifteen members with a specified number of members representing different geographic areas.  Prohibits a board of regents member from serving more than two consecutive five-year terms.  Requires the senate to consider the question of an incumbent member's confirmation for a second term at least 120 days prior to the conclusion of the member's first term.  Allows a board of regents member to continue to serve until the member's successor has been appointed and confirmed by the senate. SB 617	RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII. Establishes the governor's candidate advisory council appointed by the governor to screen and propose candidates for appointment to the board of regents of the University of Hawaii.  Allows a board of regents member to continue to serve until the member's successor has been appointed by the governor. SB 243	RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII. Requires the board of regents for the University of Hawaii to establish a new bachelor's degree program in information technology at the Manoa campus.	EDU
SB 91	RELATING TO NURSING EDUCATION. Makes appropriations to University of Hawaii campuses to implement nursing education workforce development.	EDU, WAM
SB 93	MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII HEALTHCARE WORKFORCE SIMULATION RESOURCE LABORATORIES. Appropriates funds to expand and establish healthcare workforce simulation resource laboratories throughout the University of Hawaii system for healthcare workforce development and training.	EDU, WAM
SB 83	RELATING TO INFORMATION PRACTICES. Provides a qualified exemption to the University of Hawaii and the University of Hawaii Foundation from disclosure of donor information.	EDU, JDL
SB 29	RELATING TO EDUCATION. Exempts the department of education from liability when a person employed by the department participates in parent teacher association activities or related activities.  Makes that person personally liable for wilful acts committed during these activities.  Requires DOE to establish a policy that encourages and allows DOE employees to participate in such activities and to report on its actions. SB 96	RELATING TO THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. Requires the department of education to develop procedures for obtaining the criminal history of persons who are seeking to serve as providers or subcontractors and trainees from an institution of higher education.  Allows the department to pass on fees charged by the Hawaii criminal justice data center.  Repeals the authority of the department to refuse to issue or to revoke a teaching or other educational certificate.  Makes appropriation. SB 76	RELATING TO PUBLIC SCHOOL FACILITIES. Appropriates funds to the department of education to develop a plan to provide air conditioning in all public school facilities within ten years and to incorporate energy conservation initiatives in public school facilities.	EDU, WAM
SB 97	MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR SCIENCE EDUCATION. Appropriates $4,000,000 to the department of education for science textbooks and other teaching resources for school complexes with an established K-12 articulated science curriculum.	EDU, WAM
SB 90	RELATING TO VOCATIONAL AGRICULTURE AND LANDSCAPE EDUCATION. Establishes a Vocational Agriculture and Landscape Education Program to ensure the continued supply of qualified individuals to support and maintain the agriculture and landscape industries.	EDU, WAM
SB 78	RELATING TO EDUCATION. Creates the schools education special fund under the department of education to hold unexpended and unencumbered moneys from other education special funds and accounts instead of lapsing into the general fund.  Moneys to be used for emergencies or as needed.  Makes start-up appropriation. SB 80	RELATING TO EDUCATION. Creates a revolving fund for the collection of stipend repayments for University of Hawaii students in breach of the Felix consent decree memorandum and provides funding for special education teaching programs.	EDU, WAM
SB 94	RELATING TO EDUCATION. Establish a revolving fund for the department of education in order for it to disburse revenue in support of its food distribution program.	EDU, WAM

Persons wishing to testify should submit 35 copies of their testimony to the committee clerk, Room 230, State Capitol, 24 hours prior to the hearing.  Testimony may also be faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for neighbor islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  When faxing, please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and time of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for submittal.
