Your Committees on Higher Education and Education, to which was referred S.B. No. 688, S.D. 2, entitled:
"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO EDUCATION,"
beg leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this bill is to ensure an engaged, responsible, and productive citizenry as a result of an education system that is coordinated from early childhood schooling to workforce preparation. Specifically, this bill appropriates funds to the Hawaii P-20 Initiative to develop and initiate plans for education in Hawaii in the 21st century.
The Hawaii P-20 Initiative and Hawaii State Teachers Association testified in support of this bill.
As affirmed by the records of votes of the members of your Committees on Higher Education and Education that are attached to this report, your Committees are in accord with the intent and purpose of S.B. No. 688, S.D. 2, and recommend that it pass Second Reading and be referred to the Committee on Finance.
