A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to the designation of a hawaii archaeological data survey.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 6E, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§6E- Archaeological data survey; designation. A Hawaii archaeological data survey is established and designated as a program of the State of Hawaii museum of natural and cultural history. The survey shall be an on‑line database consisting of existing documentation of archaeological work from the Hawaiian archipelago. To expand the use and knowledge of Hawaii's archaeological artifacts, the data survey shall be conducted and maintained in consultation with the department of land and natural resources and other appropriate organizations."
SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
