HOUSE RESOLUTION
Commending and applauding United Parcel Service on its 100th ANNIVERSARY.
WHEREAS, Hawaii's communities are entirely dependent on reliable, efficient shipping, whether by sea or by air, to transport the supplies and products needed to maintain our economy and our standard of living; and
WHEREAS, United Parcel Service (UPS), which began its Hawaii operations in 1975 and has since expanded to 21 locations across the state with over 679 employees, represents a critical component of Hawaii's shipping network; and
WHEREAS, UPS delivers more than 25,000 packages every day to customers across Hawaii, and serves more than 21,000 residents with their speedy and efficient delivery and specialized transportation and logistic services, all of which help to keep Hawaii's economic engine running and improve the quality of life for our communities; and
WHEREAS, the vast transportation network of UPS has connected the residents of Hawaii to 200 countries around the world; and
WHEREAS, in addition to its excellent transportation services, UPS has contributed over $755,000 to charitable endeavors to residents of Hawaii since 1995; and
WHEREAS, UPS celebrates 100 years of service to our country on August 28, 2007; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-fourth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2007, that this body hereby commends and applauds United Parcel Service on its 100th Anniversary, and expresses its warmest aloha and best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
