HOUSE RESOLUTION
RECOGNIZING THE CONTRIBUTION OF NA KAPA PULE O' 'EWA TO THE LEEWARD COMMUNITY AND IT'S IMPACT ON THE STATE OF HAWAII.
WHEREAS, faith-based organizations have a long tradition of helping Hawaii's less fortunate, the church leaders of Ewa Beach keep the tradition despite modern challenges, and thereby inspire other spiritual leaders across the State; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Jerry Kraesig, Father Scott Bush, Pastor Gregory Burgess, and Pastor David Wilson are effective spiritual advocates for the cause of Hawaii's less fortunate; as spiritual leaders, they are champions of hope, and have dedicated their lives to helping people of all faiths; and
WHEREAS, in the Spring of 2006, these four spiritual leaders from the Leeward Coast came together to form Na Kapa Pule O' 'Ewa, or "Prayer Covering Over Ewa," as a way to build a stronger network and to provide a vehicle for support; and
WHEREAS, the leaders of Na Kapa Pule O' 'Ewa saw a great mission to serve the homeless in the Kalaeloa area and thereby formed this association through which the faith community could come together to offer support and act as a catalyst for change to encourage the whole community to work together for a common good; and
WHEREAS, Na Kapa Pule O' 'Ewa has proved to be part of the glue that strengthens Leeward Oahu, and provides a shining example of how today's faith-based organizations can come together to help unify the community; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Twenty-Fourth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2007, congratulates Na Kapa Pule O' 'Ewa, for the inspiration that it provides to Ewa Beach and the State of Hawaii.
