HOUSE CONCURRENT

RESOLUTION

 

 

requesting the office of the governor to conduct a feasibility study on the establishment and operation of a capitol gift shop in the state capitol building.

 

 

 


WHEREAS, thousands of people visit the Hawaii State capitol, which continues to be admired for its historic features, architectural detail, and aesthetic appeal; and

 

     WHEREAS, visitors to the State Capitol have expressed disappointment that there is no gift shop on the premises to purchase mementos or souvenirs of their visit; and

 

     WHEREAS, other state capitols throughout the nation have gift and souvenir shops that are financially successful and provide a variety of products for visitors; and

 

     WHEREAS, a State Capitol gift shop is a common and accepted method of raising revenues for the State and can also help to make a visitor's tour of the State Capitol a more enjoyable experience; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-fourth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2007, the Senate concurring, that the Office of the Governor is requested to conduct a feasibility study on the establishment and operation of a capitol gift shop in the State Capitol building; and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Governor.
