A BILL FOR AN ACT


 

 

RELATING TO THE STATE FIRE COUNCIL.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The state fire council shall recommend building code requirements to provide alternative egress to residential developments built in areas susceptible to brush or wildfires.  For the purposes of this Act "residential developments" include the initial development and expansion of building projects consisting of more than            residential units.

     The state fire council shall report its findings, recommendations, and applicable legislation to the legislature not less than twenty days prior to the convening of the 2008 regular session of the legislature.

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $       , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2007-2008, for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of labor and industrial relations for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take on July 1, 2007.
