A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE FORTY-FIRST representative DISTRICT.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The following sums, or so much thereof as may be necessary to finance the projects listed in this Act, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2007-2008.
1. Waikele elementary school, Oahu
A. Expand faculty backside parking lot to add 30 parking stalls. $ 100,000
B. Media room - creative movement, one big room only.
Design 350,000
Construction 3,000,000
Equipment 50,000
C. Preschool enclosed playground 20 ft x 20 ft for 3 and 4 year olds.
Design 5,000
Construction 90,000
Total funding $3,595,000
2. Kaleiopuu elementary school (Village Park), Oahu
A. Covered walkway from building D to cafeteria and office area for safety of students during bad weather.
Design $ 10,000
Construction 75,000
B. Extend mauka side of fire lanes to access the school. 50,000
C. Retaining wall on the entire mauka side of campus.
Design and construction 270,000
D. Renovation of fire rescue area on second floor of building G.
Design and construction 110,000
E. Concrete fire break at rear of school.
Design and construction 25,000
F. Central air conditioner in the main office area to enhance ventilation and reduce noise levels.
Design 30,000
Construction 200,000
Total funding $ 770,000
3. Honowai elementary school, Oahu
A. Electrical upgrade for the whole school to increase power capacity for planned air conditioners. $2,000,000
B. Upgrade A-pod's boys and girls restrooms to comply with the American Disabilities Act. 140,000
C. Retaining wall on the east side of the school to prevent erosion of the hill that houses building G.

Construction 950,000
Total funding $3,190,000
SECTION 2. The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2007.
