A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to capitol building gift shop.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The legislature finds that the Hawaii state capitol building attracts a substantial number of visitors each year. Many of these visitors are disappointed that there is no gift shop on the premises, making it impossible for them to purchase mementos or souvenirs of their visit. The legislature further finds that the establishment and operation of a gift shop in the state capitol would be financially beneficial, as has been the case in other states.
The purpose of this Act is to provide funding for the establishment and operation of a gift shop in the state capitol building to help visitors make their visit more enjoyable and raise revenues for the State.
SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2007-2008, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2008-2009, for the establishment and operation of a gift shop in the state capitol building.
The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of accounting and general services for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2007.
