RELATING TO SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER PROTECTION. Prohibits businesses, subject to limited exceptions, from disclosing an individual's social security number to the general public, printing the SSN on an identification card or in mailings to customers, requiring the transmission of a SSN to third parties; and selling or otherwise disclosing the SSN third parties without written consent. RELATING TO CONSUMER PROTECTION. Prohibits the unauthorized access to or control of a computer or the inducing, by misrepresentation, authorized person to load software. Authorizes attorney general or prosecuting attorney to seek up to $2,500 per violation. Authorizes private action to recover $5,000 per violation or 5 times the amount of damage cause, whichever is greater. (HB2256 HD1) |
