NOTICE OF INFORMATIONAL BRIEFING AND MEETING

The Joint Legislative Committee on Family Caregiving has invited business organizations, disability associations, and faith-based programs to provide testimony on support for family caregivers as defined in Act 285 (2006). The public is invited to attend.

 

Those invited include: Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii, National Federation of Independent Businesses, and Society of Human Resource Management; Alzheimer's Association of Hawaii, Association of Retarded Citizens of Hawaii; and Project DANA, Kilohana Respite Program, and United Church of Christ. Others wishing to submit testimony are asked to contact the committee clerk at 586-6250.

 

The Committee will also discuss the work plan and agendas of future meetings scheduled for November 1 at 1:00 p.m., November 16 at 4:00 p.m., December 12 at 10:00 a.m. and January 5 at 1:30 p.m. All of these meetings will be held in conference room 225. An informational briefing sponsored jointly with the Kupuna Caucus will be held on November 3 at 1:30 p.m. in conference room 229.

 

Pursuant to Act 285, the purpose of the Joint Legislative Committee on Family Caregiving is to develop a comprehensive public policy program to strengthen support for family caregivers who provide unpaid, informal assistance to persons sixty and older with physical or cognitive disabilities. The joint legislative committee will consider providing support in categories including but not limited to: coordinated services and policies; training and education; respite services; financial incentives; and balancing work and caregiving.
