RELATING TO LIMITATION OF ACTIONS. Extends the statute of limitations for a civil action based on child sex abuse to 10 years after the victim reaches age of majority. Provides a 1-year window to bring an action for child sex abuse if the extended statute of limitations has expired, provided that no more than 25 years has passed since the victim reached the age of majority. RELATING TO EMOTIONAL DISTRESS. Clarifies that liability for negligent infliction of emotional distress or disturbance will not arise from damage to real property and inanimate material objects. |

Provides that an issue regarding admission or exclusion of evidence is preserved for appeal once the court makes a definitive ruling on the issue and that a litigant need not renew objection or make offer of proof thereafter to preserve the issue for appeal. |

Testimony may also be faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for neighbor islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing. When faxing, please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and time of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for submittal.
If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services to participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign language interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for the disabled) please contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior to the hearing so arrangements can be made.
