BRIEFING AND DISCUSSION ON THE REPORT AND FINDINGS BY THE LEGISLATIVE REFERENCE BUREAU AND THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH PURSUANT TO HCR 229, SD 1, SOLVING THE SHORTAGE OF PHYSICIANS IN 'ON CALL' TRAUMA LEVEL CARE FACILITIES.
The purpose of this informational briefing is to hear from the Legislative Reference Bureau and the Department of Health on their findings, conclusions and recommendations pursuant to HCR 229, SD 1. The committee will also hear from hospital trauma and emergency room providers in response to these reports and a recent report from the American College of Surgeons. The Committee hopes to use this hearing to continue the discussion on improvements in realizing an integrated, statewide EMS system to deliver emergency and trauma-level healthcare and the challenges faced by providers of such care.
