HB 2183 (HSCR32-06)	RELATING TO EMERGENCY SHELTERS. Authorizes the issuance of general obligation bonds to fund retrofit of public school buildings to enable them to be used as emergency shelters.	EDN/PSM, FIN
HB 2182 (HSCR18-06)	RELATING TO EDUCATION. Makes appropriations for operations of, and repair and maintenance for the Department of Education (DOE) and the University of Hawaii. Authorizes DOE to use certificates of participation to finance the construction of new schools.	EDN/HED, FIN
HB 2743 HD1 (HSCR354-06)	RELATING TO EDUCATION. Creates the Facilities Alignment Commission to revitalize school facilities, including establishing criteria for the selection and recommendation of areas for new schools, schools for expansion, and schools for consolidation or closure. Allows the Legislature to disapprove these recommendations only in its entirety, and requires the Board of Education to proceed with these recommendations.	EDN, FIN
HB 1891 HD1 (HSCR14-06)	RELATING TO EDUCATION. Increases the funds deposited to the state educational facilities improvement special fund.	EDN, FIN
HB 1860 (HSCR2-06)	RELATING TO EDUCATION. Appropriates funds to support the department of education's website operations.	EDN, FIN
HB 1862 HD1 (HSCR357-06)	RELATING TO EDUCATION. Allows DOE and charter schools to employ retired licensed teachers to teach full-time in teacher shortage areas and serve as mentors for new classroom teachers.	EDN/LAB, FIN
HB 1863 (HSCR3-06)	RELATING TO EDUCATION. Repeals the transfer of functions from the departments of budget and finance, attorney general, and human services to the department of education. Delays the transfer of school health aides and public health nurses from the department of health to the department of education.	EDN/LAB, FIN
HB 1865 (HSCR4-06)	RELATING TO THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. Strengthens the operations of the Department of Education by creating various positions.	EDN/LAB, FIN
HB 1866 (HSCR576-06)	RELATING TO EDUCATION. Repeals the sunset date of Act 321, Session Laws of Hawaii 1986, which gives the department of education and the University of Hawaii permanent autonomous authority for matters relating to purchase of goods and services, payments, and accounting.
