A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to civil service.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Chapter 76, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"§76-   Social worker positions; preservation; restoration. No position throughout all jurisdictions of the state civil service, including the counties, the judiciary, the department of education, the University of Hawaii, and the Hawaii health systems corporation, that on or after July 1, 2004, were or are within the class known on July 1, 2004, as social worker in all its classification shall be eliminated or abolished by reason of attrition or any other reason, except by direct act of the legislature. Any such position that has been eliminated before the effective date of this Act shall be immediately restored to its status as of July 1, 2004."

SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2005.
