A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to school repair and maintenance.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The State has lost many fine trees on public school campuses due to age, insect infestation, weather, and other causes. Unfortunately, school repair and maintenance projects have overlooked the importance of public school campus landscapes. The purpose of this Act is to appropriate funds for tree replacement on public school grounds.
SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the school-level minor repairs and maintenance special fund the sum of $25,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2005-2006, for tree replacement on public school grounds.
SECTION 3. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2005.
