A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO EXEMPTION OF VEHICLE TAX AND REGISTRATION FEE FOR NATIONAL GUARD AND RESERVE.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 249, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§249- Exemption for national guard and reserves. All noncommercial motor vehicles registered to members of the national guard and reserves assigned to units in the State, who are members in good standing, shall be exempt from vehicle tax and registration fee herein provided for, in a manner similar to the exemption for nonresident military personnel under the Soldiers' and Sailors' Civil Relief Act."
SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on October 1, 2005.
