A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to education.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 302A, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§302A- Children with developmental disabilities; placement flexibility. The department may elect, upon application by a parent, or in the exercise of its own discretion, to allow a child with developmental disabilities to remain in an early education program beyond age three in a setting in which children are grouped by developmental age rather than by chronological age."
SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
