A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO ABANDONED VEHICLES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 290, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§290- Vehicle used in aid of abandonment of another vehicle. A vehicle used by a driver to aid in the abandonment of another vehicle under this chapter may be seized on sight, removed, and stored by the county. Upon seizure, removal, and storage, the procedures under section 290-2, relating to notice, section 290-4, relating to repossession, and section 290-3, relating to public auction, shall apply."
SECTION 2. This Act does not affect rights and duties that matured, penalties that were incurred, and proceedings that were begun, before its effective date.
SECTION 3. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
