Makes an appropriation for the construction of phase III of the Oahu Veterans Center.

A BILL FOR AN ACT

SECTION 1. After many years of planning that started with a grant-in-aid of $2,800,000 in 1995 for the construction of an Oahu veterans center, phase I of the center containing a meeting hall, bathrooms, and office space has been completed by the Oahu veterans council. Phase II, to include more office space, a dining room, and kitchen, is presently under construction. The final phase III to complete the center is presently being designed.

The purpose of this Act is to make an appropriation for the construction of phase III of the Oahu veterans center.

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $2,993,958, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2006-2007, as a grant pursuant to chapter 42F, Hawaii Revised Statutes, to assist the Oahu Veterans Council in completing construction of phase III of the Oahu veterans center.

SECTION 3. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of defense for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2006.
