A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE Tenth SENATORIAL DISTRICT.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $          , or so much thereof as may be necessary, for fiscal year 2006-2007, for the following capital improvements in the tenth senatorial district:

1. Ala Wai elementary school, Oahu

A. Renovate bathrooms in classroom buildings A, B, and C. $   300,000

B. Renovate bathrooms in office. 100,000

C. Replace school perimeter fence.     60,000

Project total $   460,000

2. Hokulani elementary school, Oahu

A. Installation of permanent fencing, cattle gate, lighting and asphalt Koali parking area.

Design $    50,000

Construction 215,000

Equipment     15,000

Project total $   280,000

B. Installation of custom stage curtains in multi-purpose building. $    12,430

Project total $   292,430

3. Prince Jonah Kuhio elementary school, Oahu

A. Addition to office space - a multi-purpose room. $    50,000

B. Addition to library: a workroom for various activities. 60,000

Project total $   110,000

4. King William C. Lunalilo school, Oahu

A. Electrical evaluation and electrical panel and circuitry upgrade. $   400,000

B. School classroom renovations. 1,360,000

C. Fire alarm system upgrade. 175,000

D. Furniture replacement.     60,000

5. Manoa elementary school, Oahu

A. Electrical system update. $   300,000

B. Covered play court. 700,000

C. Fire access road improvement. 500,000

D. Ramps for handicapped access. 150,000

6. Noelani elementary school, Oahu

A. Electrical upgrade for classrooms and replace or redesign of lighting system in cafeteria. $   750,000

B. Installation of security fencing on the perimeter of school. 50,000

7. Roosevelt high school, Oahu

A. Renovation of Building A

B. Air condition school. 10,000,000

C. ADA transition accessibility.    375,000

9. President George Washington middle school, Oahu

A. Parking lot extension. $    80,000

B. F and H building electrical upgrade. 145,000

C. Feasibility study for building a school auditorium. 25,000

D. Building a third music room connected to the existing music building. 800,000

E. Build two extended portables for a parent/community center. 300,000

Project total $ 1,350,000

10. McCully-Moiliili Public Library, Oahu

A. Fire alarm system. $    51,683

B. Emergency egress lighting 13,579

C. Chiller plant 180,000

Project total $   245,262

SECTION 2. The appropriations made for the capital improvement projects authorized in this Act, shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal biennium for which the appropriation is made; provided that all appropriations which are unencumbered as of June 30, 2008, shall lapse as of that date.

SECTION 3. The sum appropriated for the capital improvement projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2006.
