A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of THE FOURTEENTH SENATORIAL DISTRICT.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $4,248,990, or so much thereof as may be necessary, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated for fiscal year 2006-2007, for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the fourteenth senatorial district, as follows:

1. Kalihi Waena Elementary School

Air conditioning

Plans $1,000

Construction $9,000

Total funding $10,000

2. Linapuni Elementary School

Campus play area upgrade

Materials $100,000

Construction $50,000

Total funding $150,000

3. Ka`ewai School

Asbestos abatement and tile replacement for 30 classrooms

Construction $50,000 x 30

Total funding $1,500,000

4. Aiea Intermediate School

Upgrade of electrical infrastructure to support expanding technology and electrical demands

Studies $50,000

Design $50,000

Equipment $300,000

Construction $800,000

5. Webling Elementary School

Portable classrooms

6. Fern Elementary School

SECTION 2. The appropriations made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal year for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2008, shall lapse as of that date.

SECTION 3. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2006.
