Appropriates funds for two full-time librarian III positions at Waialua library and Kahuku public school library for fiscal year 2006-2007. (SD1)

A BILL FOR AN ACT

SECTION 1. The legislature finds that the Waialua library and the Kahuku public school library each have one half-time children's librarian position. The legislature further finds that the current situation at these libraries necessitates the establishment of a full-time children's librarian position with full benefits at each library.

The purpose of this Act is to create and fund two full-time children's librarian positions, one for the Waialua library and the other for the Kahuku public school library.

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $          , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2006-2007, for the establishment of one full-time librarian III position (1.00 FTE) at the Waialua library, and one full-time librarian III position (1.00 FTE) at the Kahuku public school library.

SECTION 3. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2006.
