A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of THE EIGHTEENTH SENATORIAL DISTRICT.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $15,280,001, or so much thereof as may be necessary, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated for fiscal year 2006-2007, for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the eighteenth senatorial district, as follows:

1. Waipahu Elementary School

New 8-Classroom Building

Design $700,000

Equipment $50,000

Construction $9,250,000

Total funding $10,000,000

2. Waipahu Community Media Center

Design $250,000

Land $1

Total funding $250,001

3. Waipahu High School

Design and Construct Connecting Road to School Stadium and R&M

Design $250,000

Construction $4,000,000

Total funding $4,250,000

4. Lehua Elementary School

Construct Parking Lot Behind Cafeteria

Design $100,000

Construction $500,000

Total funding $600,000

5. August Ahrens Elementary School

Construct a retaining wall to

stop soil erosion

Design $ 30,000

Construction $150,000

Total funding $180,000

SECTION 2. The appropriation made for the capital improvement project authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal year for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2008 shall lapse as of that date.

SECTION 3. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2006.
