A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to agricultural product market development.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. (a) All state entities, including all state departments, agencies, and the agribusiness development corporation and the department of business, economic development, and tourism, that expend funds to conduct agricultural product market development shall afford parity to organically grown produce in the expenditure of funds for agricultural product market development.

(b) For the purposes of this section, "organically grown" food is food that is grown and processed using no synthetic fertilizers or pesticides and that complies with the United States Department of Agriculture's National Organic Program (7 C.F.R. 205).

SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
