A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to public safety.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The purpose of this Act is to appropriate money to make necessary repairs to a seawall that runs parallel to the shore from 2957 Kalakaua avenue to Coconut avenue in Waikiki. The seawall has been deteriorating over the years and should be repaired to protect the public who access the ocean. Making the needed repairs to the holes and breaks in the wall will prevent unnecessary injuries.

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $550,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2006-2007, for necessary repairs to the seawall that runs approximately parallel to the shore from Kalakaua avenue to Coconut avenue in Waikiki.

SECTION 3. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of land and natural resources for the purposes of

this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2006.
