A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to penalties for repeatedly driving a vehicle in excess of speed limits.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Chapter 291C, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"§291C- Repeated and frequent speeding. Any person who violates section 291C-102 by driving a motor vehicle at a speed greater than the posted speed limit by at least twenty miles per hour shall be subject, in addition to any other applicable penalties, to a one-week license suspension if the violation occurs within one year of two prior convictions for the same violation."

SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
