A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

making an appropriation for consumer education regarding real estate laws.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. There is appropriated out of the real estate education fund the sum of $           , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2005-2006, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2006-2007, for public education to inform the public of their rights as consumers under the real estate laws, including but not limited to their rights regarding the filing of complaints and the appropriate agencies from whom to seek help, such as the regulated complaints office. Funds shall also be utilized to inform the public via public service announcements or any other necessary means regarding the opportunities for real estate education provided for herein.

SECTION 2. The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of commerce and consumer affairs for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2005.
