A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

RELATING TO PUBLIC SAFETY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The purpose of this Act is to ensure that fire fighters and other emergency first responders are fully prepared to respond to natural and man-made disasters, including acts of terrorism, by appropriating funds to plan a Hawaii state fire/emergency training facility.

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $150,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2005-2006, for the following project:

To develop a feasibility study by a consultant for a Hawaii state fire/emergency training facility.

Planning $150,000

The governor may supplement funds for any cost element for this project by transferring such sums as may be needed from the funds appropriated for other cost elements of this project.

SECTION 3. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of labor and industrial relations for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2005.
