A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE maui aids foundation.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The legislature finds that expenditures from the emergency and budget reserve fund established by section 328L-3, Hawaii Revised Statutes, are needed to meet the emergency economic situation currently facing the State. The legislature determines that the moneys are urgently needed to maintain levels of programs that are essential to the public health, safety, and welfare. The legislature further finds that the grants and subsidies under this Act are in the public interest and serve the public health, safety, and welfare.

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the emergency and budget reserve fund the sum of $        , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2005-2006, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2006-2007, for a grant in accordance with chapter 42F, Hawaii Revised Statutes, to the Maui AIDS Foundation to improve the quality of life for those affected by HIV and AIDS through comprehensive, integrative client and case management services.

SECTION 3. The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of health for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2005.
