WHEREAS, school athletics has offered Hawaii's youth countless rewarding, challenging, and enjoyable opportunities to apply their physical and mental skills to sports competition; and

WHEREAS, over the course of a long and arduous basketball season fraught with a multitude of challenges, the KAIMUKI HIGH SCHOOL BULLDOGS VARSITY BOYS' BASKETBALL TEAM grew together, learned from past mistakes, and committed to outplaying all competitors; and

WHEREAS, through the community's pride and support, the "underdog" KAIMUKI HIGH SCHOOL BULLDOGS VARSITY BOYS' BASKETBALL TEAM surged ahead, achieving victory after victory, to the surprise and delight of many; and

WHEREAS, the KAIMUKI HIGH SCHOOL BULLDOGS VARSITY BOYS' BASKETBALL TEAM's superb athletic ability, keen competitive spirit, and fine sportsmanship has earned them the noteworthy 2006 Oahu Interscholastic Association Varsity Basketball Championship; and

WHEREAS, the KAIMUKI HIGH SCHOOL BULLDOGS VARSITY BOYS' BASKETBALL TEAM outplayed Kahuku High School in a dramatic, edge-of-your-seat championship thriller with a score of 44-43, to capture the title, which has not been held by Kaimuki High School since 1993; and

WHEREAS, under the faithful guidance of Head Coach Kelly Grant and Assistant Coaches Kendall Ellingswood, Matt Loa, and Glen Jandoc, this outstanding basketball team has gained immense athletic training and discipline, cultivated admirable sportsmanlike conduct, and enhanced their athletic abilities; and

WHEREAS, much of the success of the KAIMUKI HIGH SCHOOL BULLDOGS VARSITY BOYS' BASKETBALL TEAM is attributed to the cohesive and dedicated efforts of the entire team, including the coaches, team managers, statisticians, and athletes; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-third Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2006, that this body hereby congratulates and recognizes the KAIMUKI HIGH SCHOOL BULLDOGS VARSITY BOYS' BASKETBALL TEAM: Beau Albrechtson, Craig Cabudol, Daniel Colon, Shaun Dela Calzada, Alika Higa, Ryan Kakitani, Bryan Lim, Phillip Miyasaka, Thomas Pyo, Shadrach Ramos-Dias, Keone Reyes, Swaine Seto-Mook, and Jarett Shiu; Head Coach, Kelly Grant; Assistant Coaches, Kendall Ellingswood, Matt Loa, and Glen Jandoc; and Team Managers/Statisticians, Baba, Nainoa Mielke, Jordan Tanuvasa, Jasmine Fujimoto, Jody Rivera, Janell Shimabukuro, and Nancy Syxomphou, on winning the 2006 Oahu Interscholastic Association Varsity Boys' Basketball Championship, and extends to them its warmest aloha and best wishes in all their future endeavors.
