HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

Honoring jean k. yamane for her 38 years of distinguished service to the state of hawaii.

 

 

WHEREAS, very few individuals have dedicated so much of their professional and personal lives to the growth and prosperity of their communities as JEAN K. YAMANE; and

WHEREAS, born and raised in Honolulu, JEAN K. YAMANE graduated from Kaimuki High School, attended the University of Hawaii where she received a Bachelors Degree in Sociology, and began her employment with the State of Hawaii, serving as a social worker in the Department of Social Services and Housing; and

WHEREAS, from very early on in her career, JEAN K. YAMANE recognized the joy of serving others in need, from the elderly to the disabled, and she embraced each task with a smile and positive attitude; and

WHEREAS, always striving to learn more about her profession, JEAN K. YAMANE continued taking post-graduate social work courses and received a Masters Degree in Public Administration after transferring to the District Court and becoming the Director of District Court Counseling and Probation Division; and

WHEREAS, as a result of her exemplary work ethic and dedication, JEAN K. YAMANE quickly rose through the ranks and became the Chief Court Administrator of the District Court of the First Circuit; and

WHEREAS, JEAN K. YAMANE went above and beyond her call of duty, serving 14 years on the Kaimuki Neighborhood Board, participating in the Organization of Women Leaders, and serving as a member and past president of Soroptimist International of Honolulu, a service club of professional and business women; and

WHEREAS, after 38 years of service to the State of Hawaii, including 30 years with the Judiciary, JEAN K. YAMANE retired from a distinguished career marked by passion and enthusiasm, leaving countless good memories and large shoes to fill; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-third Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2006, that this body hereby congratulates and commends JEAN K. YAMANE for her 38 years of dedicated service to the State of Hawaii, congratulates her upon her retirement, and extends to her and her family a warm aloha and best wishes for success, good health, and happiness in her retirement years.
