HOUSE CONCURRENT

RESOLUTION

 

REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION TO INVEST IN A MULTIMEDIA LEARNING CENTER EACH AT CASTLE HIGH SCHOOL AND KAILUA HIGH SCHOOL FOR USE BY THE SCHOOLS AND THEIR SURROUNDING COMPLEX SCHOOLS.

 

 

WHEREAS, access to and hands-on knowledge of information technology and multimedia are components of learning that make students eager and excited to learn; and

WHEREAS, students who are technologically literate when they graduate from high school have an edge over their counterparts who are not technologically savvy; and

WHEREAS, students who have acquired the tools and training necessary to use information, technology, and multimedia are better prepared to compete as a skilled workforce; and

WHEREAS, for an island state like Hawaii, information technology and multimedia can help students overcome the barriers of geography and limited resources; and

WHEREAS, multimedia centers at the local school level have been a sound investment that benefits Hawaii's children; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-third Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2006, the Senate concurring, that the Department of Education is requested to invest in a multimedia learning center each at Castle High School and Kailua High School for use by the schools and their surrounding complex schools; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Governor, the Chairperson of the Board of Education, the Superintendent of Education, the Principal of Castle High School, and the Principal of Kailua High School.
