A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to capital improvement projects pertaining to kauai community college.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2006-2007:

A. Nursing and business education building, natural sciences building, and fine arts building

Design and construction to retrofit or replace air conditioning system.

Design $27,000

Construction $153,000

Total funding $180,000

B. Faculty building, carpentry building, and welding building

Design and construction to retrofit or replace air conditioning system.

Design $27,000

Construction $153,000

Total funding $180,000

C. Social science building, automotive body building, and automotive technology building

Design and construction to retrofit or replace air conditioning system.

Design $27,000

Construction $153,000

Total funding $180,000

D. Campus-wide roads and parking lots

Design and construction to resurface roads and parking lots.

Design $89,000

Construction $659,000

Total funding $748,000

E. OCET portables

Design and construction to repair and replace OCET portables.

Design $32,000

Construction $241,000

Total funding $273,000

Provided that all construction work meet or exceed the leadership in energy and environmental design silver rating standards for new construction/major renovation work (LEED-NC) and existing building operations (LEED-EB) established by the United States Green Building Council for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings.

SECTION 2. The sums appropriated shall be expended by the University of Hawaii for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2006.
