A BILL FOR AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII AT HILO.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The legislature finds that in order to function in its day to day business operations, the University of Hawaii at Hilo is highly dependent on various utilities, especially electricity. Projected increases in utility costs, coupled with an increase in the amount of space being occupied will cause a shortfall of funding. Additional allocations are critical in order to maintain current utility usage levels at the projected future costs in the next year.
The purpose of this Act is to appropriate funds for these costs.
SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $956,154, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2006-2007, for utility cost increases and infrastructure repair and maintenance at the University of Hawaii at Hilo as follows:
A. Additional funding for rising utility costs.
