A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to counties.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 291C, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§291C- Moped; prohibition on operation. (a) Each county may adopt ordinances establishing areas where the operation of mopeds shall be prohibited.
(b) Each county may adopt ordinances establishing penalties for the violation of the prohibition, provided that the penalties shall not exceed $1,000 for each violation. Fines imposed by the counties shall be deposited into the general fund of each respective county.
SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
