A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to prescription drugs.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The purpose of this Act is to authorize the use of or reference to the federal supply schedule to establish a benchmark for prescription drug prices for the negotiation and purchase of brand name prescription drugs by the State of Hawaii in connection with prescription drug programs administered by the State.
SECTION 2. The director of human services, or the director's designee, is authorized to use or refer to the federal supply schedule in establishing a benchmark for prescription drug prices for the negotiation and purchase of brand name prescription drugs in connection with prescription drug programs administered by the department of human services.
SECTION 3. The director of human services, or the director's designee, shall establish a plan and procedures to implement the purpose of this Act.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2099.
