A BILL FOR AN ACT

SECTION 1. The Hawaii housing finance and development administration shall conduct a study to determine the feasibility of using state land at the Puunene airport located in Puunene, Maui, for affordable housing. All state departments and agencies having jurisdiction or responsibility over Puunene airport, including the department of transportation and department of land and natural resources, shall cooperate fully with the Hawaii housing finance and development administration as it conducts the study.

The Hawaii housing finance and development administration shall report its findings and recommendations to the legislature no later than twenty days before the convening of the regular session of 2007.

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $        or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2006-2007 for the Hawaii housing finance and development administration to conduct a study to determine the feasibility of using state land at Puunene airport located in Puunene, Maui, for affordable housing.

The sum appropriated shall be expended by the Hawaii housing finance and development administration for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2050.
