A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

making an appropriation for mckinley high school physical education and athletic facilities.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The former site of the Kapiolani community college at the intersection of Kapiolani boulevard and Pensacola street has been vacant or sorely underutilized since the community college was relocated. The site is adjacent to the McKinley high school athletic field and is an ideal location for the expansion of much needed facilities by the school for physical education and athletic facilities.

The purpose of this Act is to:

(1) Direct the department of education to utilize the design-build process to develop physical education and athletic facilities on the site; and

(2) Make an appropriation for the design and construction of the physical education and athletic facilities.

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $        , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2006-2007, for the design and construction, utilizing the design-build process, of physical education and athletic facilities at McKinley high school as provided in this Act.

SECTION 3. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2006.
