A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to campaign contributions.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Chapter 11, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to part XII to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"§11- Solicitation of contributions; declaration of contribution prohibition applicable to state and county contractors. Each solicitation for a contribution to a candidate, committee, or any other entity subject to this part shall contain a declaration that states, in pertinent part, that, pursuant to section 11-205.5, any person, organization, business, or other entity identified in section 11-205.5 that has executed a contract to provide goods or services to a state or county agency is prohibited, during the term of the contract, from making a contribution."

SECTION 2. This Act does not affect rights and duties that matured, penalties that were incurred, and proceedings that were begun, before its effective date.

SECTION 3. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
