A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

RELATING TO CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE forty-ninth REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2006-2007.

1. To be expended by the department of accounting and general services:

A. James B. Castle high school, Oahu

Design, construction, and equipment to

expand cafeteria dining room for

additional student dining; ground

and site improvements; equipment and

appurtenances.

Design $ 300,000

Construction 2,600,000

Equipment 200,000

B. James B. Castle high school, Oahu

Design, construction, and equipment

for the installation of an all weather

track field; site and ground improvement;

equipment and appurtenances.

Design $ 30,000

Construction 700,000

Equipment 20,000

C. Benjamin Parker elementary school, Oahu

Replace drop ceiling removed in 2005.

After the ceilings at Kailua intermediate

fell on students, our buildings were worked

on and ceilings were removed. The school

now has open ceilings leading to the cafeteria

and administration building and library.

D. Heeia elementary school, Oahu

Expansion of teacher parking lot and

additional visitor parking stalls:

currently the parking area is loose

gravel with pot holes and are unlined

causing a safety issue.

E. Enchanted lake elementary school, Oahu

Electrical upgrade to building F (library

to main corridor covered walkway)

telecommunications administration

building. $8,800,000

F. Kaelepulu elementary school, Oahu

Electricity for expansion of

parking lot. $100,000

G. Maunawili elementary school, Oahu

Electrical upgrade to provide a greater

power base for classroom technology

and throughout school.

Design and construction $400,000

H. S. W. King intermediate school, Oahu

Conversion (renovation of café dining

room to serve as "cafetorium"; stage,

sound and lighting.

Plans, design, construction $5,000,000

I. Kailua high school, Oahu

Design and construct a new library and

renovate the existing library to the

school's career counseling and college center.

Renovate building O into a career and

technology education project room. $6,600,000

J. Olomana youth center, Oahu

Construction of a twelve-foot extension

to the existing physical education portable.

Extension is needed to accommodate increasing

number of "at-risk" students that are being

sent to Olomana.

K. Hawaii youth correctional facility, Oahu

Plans $ 5,000

Design 185,000

Construction 1,210,000

2. To be expended by the department of transportation:

A. Improve and build sidewalks near schools

Plans $ 2,500

Design 10,000

Construction 75,000

B. Underground utility lines on Kamehameha highway from Waikalua road to Haiku

Plans $ 50,000

Design 100,000

Construction 2,500,000

SECTION 2. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the designated expending agencies for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2006.
