A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

RELATING TO THE DEPOSIT BEVERAGE CONTAINER SPECIAL FUND.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The purpose of this Act is to assist the

counties in addressing the litter problems that is pervasive our

State.

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the deposit

beverage container special fund the sum of $500,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2006-2007, for a grant-in-aid to the City and County of Honolulu for litter control.

SECTION 3. The sum in section 2 shall be expended by the City and County of Honolulu for the purposes of that section.

SECTION 4. There is appropriated out of the deposit beverage container special fund the sum of $200,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2006-2007, for a grant-in-aid to the County of Hawaii for litter control.

SECTION 5. The sum in section 4 shall be expended by the County of Hawaii for the purposes of that section.

SECTION 6. There is appropriated out of the deposit beverage container special fund the sum of $200,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2006-2007, for a grant-in-aid to the County of Maui for litter control.

SECTION 7. The sum in section 6 shall be expended by the County of Maui for the purposes of that section.

SECTION 8. There is appropriated out of the deposit beverage container special fund the sum of $200,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2006-2007, for a grant-in-aid to the County of Kauai for litter control.

SECTION 9. The sum in section 8 shall be expended by the County of Kauai for the purposes of that section.

SECTION 10. The counties shall report on their use of their grants-in-aid to the Legislature twenty days prior to the convening of the Regular Session of 2008.

SECTION 11. There is appropriated out of the deposit beverage container special fund the sum of $500,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2006-2007, to the Department of Health to assist the dealers in the implementation of the deposit beverage container program.

SECTION 12. The sum in section 11 shall be expended by the department of health for the purposes of that section.

SECTION 13. This bill shall take effect upon approval.
