A BILL FOR AN ACT
making an appropriation for public schools.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $____________, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2006-2007, for the repair and maintenance of public schools. The moneys appropriated by this Act shall be deposited into the school physical plant operations and maintenance account established under section 36-36.
SECTION 2. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. In addition to the reporting requirements of section 36-36, the department shall provide to the presiding officers of the legislature and the respective minority leaders within three working days of the event:
(a) Notification as to when the moneys authorized by this Act were requested by the department;
(b) Notification as to when the moneys are deposited into the school physical plant operations and maintenance account;
(c) Notification as to when half of the moneys appropriated by this Act are encumbered; and
(d) Notification as to when all of the moneys appropriated by this Act are encumbered.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2006.
