A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to contractors.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Section 444-9.5, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended to read as follows:
"[[]§444-9.5[]] Licensing of [craftsmen.] electrical and plumbing workers. At least half of all [craftsmen requiring licenses] electricians and at least half of all plumbers who are employed on a construction [project] job site by a [specialty] contractor in the trade [in which the craftsman is licensed] of the employee, shall be licensed in accordance with and to the extent required by chapter 448E. The board may waive this requirement in any county when there are insufficient licensed [craftsmen] electricians or plumbers in that county to comply herewith."
SECTION 2. Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
