Description:
Extends by three years the sunset date of the Hawaii Tourism Authority's ability to retain attorneys independent of the Attorney General. Makes permanent the Hawaii Tourism Authority's exemption from supervision of accounts by the comptroller; the requirement that it preaudit all its proposed payments to determine the propriety of the payments, and to maintain records and documents necessary to support disbursements; the provision that allows interest and revenues derived by the Hawaii Tourism Authority to be deposited into the Convention Center Enterprise Special Fund and Tourism Special Fund; the increase in the amount of the Tourism Special Fund that can be used by the Hawaii Tourism Authority for the executive director's salary; and its authority to appoint a sports coordinator. A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO THE HAWAII TOURISM AUTHORITY.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Act 58, Session Laws of Hawaii 2004, is amended by amending section 14 to read as follows:
"SECTION 14. This Act shall take effect [on] upon its approval; provided that:
(1) The amendments made to sections 40-1, 40-4, and 40-6, Hawaii Revised Statutes, by part I of this Act shall not be repealed when those sections are reenacted on June 30, [2005,] 2006, by section [24] 1 of Act [115,] 137, Session Laws of Hawaii [1998;] 2005;
(2) [Part I] Sections 1 and 2 of this Act shall be repealed on June 30, [2007,] 2010, and [sections] section 28-8.3, [40-1, 40-4, and 40-6, 201B-2, and 201B-11,] Hawaii Revised Statutes, shall be reenacted in the form in which [they] it read on June 29, 2005; and
(3) Section 9 shall take effect on July 1, 2004."
SECTION 2. Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on January 1, 2096.
